The Village of Pinehurst Fire Department on Tuesday recognized three department staffers for service that collectively adds up to more than 100 years.
The department used the NC Fire Chief’s Association standard as a guide in developing and adopting an Employee Recognition and Awards Program. This recognition may be bestowed upon members of the PFD for actions, accomplishments and achievements that reflect positively upon the member and that are in keeping with the highest and noblest traditions of the fire service.
The medal and citation bar is issued when certain criteria are met and approved, or automatically when a PFD employee attains 30 years of service with the department.
The following employees were pinned with the medal and received a certificate of achievement at the November 13 Village Council meeting:
Battalion Chief Robert E. Southers serving since January 1, 1976 (36 years)
Captain Randy K. Cox serving since May 1, 1978 (34 years)
Battalion Chief Alfred L. Davis, Jr. serving since July 1, 1981 (31 years)
Years of service include time with the Village of Pinehurst and Pinehurst Fire Department prior to the incorporation of the Village.
