On Sunday afternoon, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m., the Duke University Chorale will perform a concert at The Village Chapel, in Pinehurst, under the direction of Dr. Rodney Wynkoop.
This will be Wynkoop's 28th appearance as conductor of this choir, which has appeared for more than 35 years at The Village Chapel.
Penick Village provides the choir's evening meal, and the chorale sings a shortened program there.
"The residents look forward to hearing this magnificent group, and the students look forward to a time of fellowship with familiar faces," says a spokesman. "What a wonderful experience for those who hear the music and for those who share their talents in a time of fellowship."
The Village Chapel, in conjunction with the Classical Concert Association, will present a concert the following evening, Monday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m.
The nationally famous group Cantus will be singing from the chancel of the chapel to a packed house.
This a cappella professional group of nine male voices will sing a variety of styles of music. The group originated from the famous St. Olaf Choir in Minnesota.
"You may purchase a 'package deal,' which includes both concert performances purchased at the same time for $30," says a spokesman.
Individual tickets for reserved seating to Cantus are available at $25 each and the Duke Chorale tickets are $10 per person available at the front door of the chapel.
