Two Arrested, Charged in Undercover Drug Investigation

Moore County Sheriff's Investigators arrested two Sanford residents on drug charges following a month-long undercover operation, Sheriff Lane Carter reported.

On Wednesday, authorities arrested Saul Roman Velazquez, 27, and Antonio Mendoza Aguilar, 27, after an undercover investigation in the Robbins and Aberdeen areas of Moore County. During the ivestigation officers from the sheriff's narcotics unit seized 1,047 grams of methamphetamine, one gram of heroin and $159.

Estimated street value of the drugs was $63,000.

Velazquez was charged with 8 courts of Trafficking Methamphetamine, 4 counts of Conspiracy to Traffick Methamphetamine, 2 counts of possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine, 2 counts sell methamphetamine, 2 counts deliver methamphetamine.

Aguilar was charged with 4 counts of Conspiracy to Traffick Methamphetamine.

Valazquez and Aguilar each received a $500,000.00 secured bond and each was placed in the Moore County Detention Center.

Aberdeen Police Department and the Southern Pines Police Department K-9 unit assisted in the arrest of the individuals.
