Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar in Aberdeen is partnering with the Moore County Thunder AAU 14U basketball team to host a flapjack fundraiser Saturday.

All proceeds raised will directly benefit the new team.

"We're excited to help the Moore County Thunder establish itself in the community," said Michael Olander, president and CEO of the Apple Gold Group. "We look forward to working with them on June 2 and wish them the best of luck."

The flapjack fundraiser starts at 8 a.m. at Applebee's at 1403 N. Sandhills Blvd.

Tickets are $7 and can be purchased by contacting Donnie Haith at (910) 849-7146. Breakfast includes a short stack of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee.

Applebee's partners with local nonprofit organization to raise money for their cause. From ticket sales to event-day staff, the breakfasts are managed by the nonprofit organization, with the assistance of Applebee's employee volunteers. Breakfasts can be held on Saturday or Sunday morning, and cost the organization about $2 a meal.

The flapjack fundraisers represent the restaurant chain's latest efforts to remain active within its local neighborhood, a news release said.
