Recently, President Obama has been criticizing Gov. Romney’s extensive private sector business experience and questioning its relevance to the presidency.
How ironic is it that this president, who when he was first elected was the least experienced president in our nation’s history, to question the experience of his rival?
Amazing.

Well John, isn't it obvious that a community organizer with 0 experience is better qualified to be president than a former governor and career businessman? Just look at the proof :>) I hope that people aren't swayed by false and misleading campaign ads and will remember this in November.

Pretty sad too, when you have a rising star in the Democrat Party, Mayor Cory Booker, speaking from his heart, that he found Obama's tactics, nauseating, before being dragged to the woodshed and then walk his comments back. Diane

Rmoney is running on his business experience. It's fair game.
Obama is busy reducing the growth of government (he's limited government growth more than any president since Eisenhower), putting Americans to work (more jobs created in the past year than in all eight of Bush's), and encouraging business success (highest corporate profits ever), decreasing our reliance on foreign oil (more drilling than at any time in our history). Notice that gas prices are lower today than a year ago. I guess that since the increases in price a short while ago were Obama's fault, the dramatic fall must be to his credit, right?
Looks like on-the-job training works!
Given our experience with CEO presidents (Hoover, Bush II), I wouldn't put much stock in business experience.
Diane, I missed your earlier posts about what a great mayor Booker is. Please fill us in on this fascinating Democrat. And he wasn't speaking from his heart. He was speaking from his campaign treasury, largely fueled by Wall Street cash (not least from guys at Bain).

What is so stupid is that either you are a "insider" or "you have no experience". It dosen't matter. In fact the only thing that get's you elected is "who likes you". It"s High School all over again.
JimHeim 12 months ago
native, that pretty much summarizes electoral politics. It's pretty difficult to get elected if no one like you. Ask Rmoney in December.

JimHeim-- Speaking of "electoral politics," were you actually elected by Moore County Democrats? When? Was it a close race? Are you running again for this slot? Thanks!
Thatcher 12 months ago
And JimHeim-- That "Rmoney" thing is crazy funny!! Just ask your buddy Kevin Smith, who wrote today, "No one begrudges Mr. Romney for being wealthy." Except you, Mr. Smith, and every other liberal who posts here. You liberals can't keep a secret for 1 minute: you envy wealthy people, then your envy turns to hate, then your hate turns to socialism...all the while you claim "I don't bedrudge wealthy people." Too funny!

Ironic, yes. Unexpected, not hardly. Happens all the time with the left. I thought it was such a load how they worked themselves into a lather over Sarah Palins lack of qualification all the while running a relatively unknown with a paper thin resume. And they thought they were mining gold at the time.

So, Obama didn't cut spending, he slowed the growth. Yet the deficit has increased more in his first 4 than in any other presidents 8 years. Yet Jim calls regards him as a fiscal genius.

Jim Heim….I’m surprised that you would repeat the fiction about how slow the growth in government spending has been under the Obama administration. This is the fable that originated with Rex Nutting’s analysis, which has been thoroughly debunked. In honor of its originator, it’s called the “Nutting Analysis”, or more appropriately, the “Nutty Analysis”. The most casual observer knows this is false, even without any serious analysis.
What is more disappointing (but less surprising) is that President Obama would repeat this same fiction, knowing that it is patently false. Once again, he has knowingly lied to the American people, which is one of the many reasons he needs to be replaced.
JimHeim 12 months ago
Thatcher, 'Rmoney' was the spelling on the stage at one of Mitt's campaign stops. I loved the photo and thought the misspelling was fortuitous. Maybe Mitt needed Dan Quayle to spell check it!

I can't help but notice that when the subject gets complicated and you can't find evidence to dislodge my assertions, you devolve to ad hominem attacks. Doesn't seem to advance your cause much.
For the record I have been elected to two terms. The second will end in April. It's been fun.
JimHeim 12 months ago
John, This from Politifact:
“Obama has indeed presided over the slowest growth in spending of any president using raw dollars, and it was the second-slowest if you adjust for inflation,”
The only way you can change those numbers is to hang Bush's last budget (which began in October, 2008 before Obama was even elected) on the new president. That would be stupid.
JRowerdink 12 months ago
JIm Heim...What would be even more stupid is to blame 2009 spending on President Bush, since Obama was inaugurated in January 2009 and had huge majorities in both houses of Congress. Whatever budget President Bush presented (which would have been approved by a Democrat Congress) is irrelevant, since the 2009 appropriations were entirely the result of Obama and the Democrat Congress.

The main issue with respect to Romney running against Obama is he is a non conservative Mormon Republican. Will Bible beating right wingers and hispanics be able to enter the voting booths and pull the lever for a liberal republican? What about the Indies? Will they even show up in the the historical numbers of recent elections? Conversely, with respect to President Obama will his base in the black and professorial communities be as energized as they were four years ago? I,m not sure about that and what about the gays?
It's politics folks and the dynamic nature of the presidential race will be ignited after Tampa and Charlotte. Personally, I supported Hillary for president four years ago, she looks pretty strong today.
Obama has stumbled and bumbled his way through his first term. But, he is the incumbent and will be tough to beat. I like his chances with the GM thing, the bin laden thing and the economy starting to show signs of recovery. The Boomers have some change in their pockets and they will spend money and help out their kids if necessary. I heard a news report this week-end that rental sales for Memorial day were up over 20% from last year.
Professional observers tell us that most folks who are going to actually decide the election don't start tuning in until after the party conventions. Looks like President Obama's charisma will take him a long ways. When is he going to turn it on?

Who on these blogs has the money that is in Romney's bank account. With a son who is a Hedgefund manager, whose interest does Romney support? The extremely wealthy...if you are not a multimillionaire, then you must be a coupon millionaire. The working class will take the brunt of Romney's solution to Americas problems.

And the TeaPublic was trounced on election day, what does that say when you believe anyone could beat your nominee of McCain and Palin? Great job at fail logic and poor snark.

The Tea Party was not trounced in the November 2008 election. It did not even exist then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Part.... It began in 2009. Since then, it has done pretty well.

"Will Bible beating right wingers and hispanics be able to enter the voting booths and pull the lever for a liberal republican? What about the Indies? " The answer is yes they will.
The only way the president will get re-elected will be through voter fraud.
skylinefirepest 12 months ago
To answer your question about pulling the lever...in a heartbeat!!! A liberal Republican beats Obama and his goal of making the greatest country on the face of the earth into a third world has-been in a heartbeat. If we only took Obama's lying into account I don't see how any honest person could vote for him again. He snookered the left and the right with his rhetoric and few, if any, bothered to check his creds. I didn't vote for him the first time and now I'd vote for Mickey Mouse over Obama...in a heartbeat!!
JD 12 months ago
Oh yea they are looking better and better.
A Gallup Poll of April 2010 found 47% of Americans had an "unfavorable" image of the Tea Party movement, as opposed to 33% who had a favorable opinion.
In November 2011 the New York Times cited opinion polls showing that support for the Tea Party had "fallen sharply even in places considered Tea Party strongholds."
Thanks for the read enjoy more Buddy on why we need a Fair Tax.

Just remember our vote counts, yea right
Electoral votes by state/federal district for the elections of 2012, 2016 and 2020, with apportionment changes between the 2000 and 2010 Censuses Electoral College map showing the results of the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) won the popular vote in 28 states and the District of Columbia (denoted in blue) to capture 365 electoral votes. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) won the popular vote in 22 states (denoted in red) to capture 173 electoral votes. Nebraska split its electoral vote when Senator Obama won the electoral vote from Nebraska's 2nd congressional district; the state's other four electoral votes went to Senator McCain. Cartogram representation of the Electoral College vote for the 2008 election, with each square representing one electoral vote. The Electoral College consists of the electors appointed by each state who formally elect the President and Vice President of the United States. Since 1964, there have been 538 electors in each presidential election.[1] Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution specifies how many electors each state is entitled to have and that each state's legislature decides how its electors are to be chosen. U.S. territories are not represented in the Electoral College. The Electoral College is an example of an indirect election, as opposed to a direct election by United States citizens (such as for members of the United States House of Representatives).
The voters of each state, and the District of Columbia, vote for electors to be the authorized constitutional participants in a presidential election. In early U.S. history, some state laws delegated the choice of electors to the state legislature. Electors are free to vote for anyone eligible to be President, but in practice pledge to vote for specific candidates and voters cast ballots for favored presidential and vice presidential candidates by voting for correspondingly pledged electors.[2][3]
The Twelfth Amendment provides for each elector to cast one vote for President and one vote for Vice President. It also specifies how a President and Vice President are elected. The Twenty-third Amendment specifies how many electors the District of Columbia is entitled to have.
Bill 12 months ago
The Electoral College's existence is controversial. A 2001 Gallup article noted that "a majority of Americans have continually expressed support for the notion of an official amendment of the U.S. Constitution that would allow for direct election of the president" since one of the first-ever public polls on the matter in 1944, and Gallup found no significant change in 2004.[4][5] Critics argue that the Electoral College is archaic, inherently undemocratic and gives certain swing states disproportionate influence in selecting the President and Vice President. Proponents argue that the Electoral College is an important, distinguishing feature of federalism in the United States and that it protects the rights of smaller states. Numerous constitutional amendments have been introduced in the Congress seeking to alter the Electoral College or replace it with a direct popular vote; however, no proposal has ever passed the Congress.

Mittens experience should be up for debate:
Romney's bankruptcy rate was 25%. According to the Wall Street Journal, the average Bankruptcy rate for venture capital firms (like Bain) is 5% to 8%.
Romney's bankruptcy rate is 4 to 5-times worse than average for a private equity firm
Bain Capital made a total $776 million bankrupting 8 companies.
AMPAD - Profit: $102 million - Bankrupt: 2002
The $776 million represents more than half their profits during the period.
All 8 deals were Leveraged Buyouts (LBOs).
They borrowed an average of $300 million against the assets of these companies.
They paid themselves an average of $100 million in consulting fees from the loans.
So each new company was saddled with an average of $300 million in New Debt which virtually guaranteed they would fail.

A 1997 photograph has been unearthed showing Barack Obama marching in a tea-party-style parade, long before the tax-cutting, patriotic movement began, and despite Obama’s apparent disdain for “teabaggers,” as he has termed them.
“Yes, that really is Barack Obama wearing a regimental coat and carrying a tricorn hat in his hand, “And that flag behind him really is a Gadsden flag, with its serpent and its ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ slogan.”
“In 2009, President Barack Obama reportedly called members of the tea party ‘teabaggers.’ It turns out that our fourth greatest president, first in so many things, may have been the first ‘teabagger’ himself.”
<p>Breitbart.com explains the forgotten photo has been in plain view for fifteen years, explaining it appeared on the front page of Chicago’s Hyde Park Herald on July 9th, 1997, snapped by photographer Nancy Campbell Hays.by buskwon
