A brief afternoon storm brought heavy rain and even hail to some parts of Moore County today.
Hail was reported in Pinebluff and Pinehurst, with some reporting they saw pea-sized hail in the Village of Pinehurst. Other areas reported no hail.
In Southern Pines, heavy rain fell, but no hail.
The heavier rains and hail were reported around 4:15 p.m.

There is still hail on the ground at 7:30, some nearly as large as a quarter, and a ton of shredded foliage!

We got nothing but a little rain in Southern Pines and just enough rumbles of thunder and small flashes of lightning to require the Thundershirts to be put on the dogs. A friend in Pinehurst got pounded with hail, took some pictures, but didn't have her camera adjusted, so nice that The Pilot hs a picture.

My wife had to pull over at Omsted Village Exxon, she said there was marble sized hail and that she saw 2 vehicles with damaged windscreens. While in 7-lakes all I heard or saw was thunder in the distance

There was hail about the size of pearls in Vass near the Cumberland County border. I heard there was golf ball sized hail in Pinehurst.

Anyone notice that the Village of Pinehurst did not care to use its R911 system to notify residents of the posted National Weather Service severe storm warning which included the possibility of high wind and HAIL.
