Deshawn Lamer Morrison-Junious

On Monday, police arrested Deshawn Lamer Morrison-Junious, 20, of Candor, at his mother's home in Richmond County and charged him with murder in the homicide of Jasmin Rorie.

Moore County officers were assisted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in making the arrest.

Morrison-Junious is in the Moore County Detention Center and is being held with no bond. His court date is set for June 7, 2012.

Sheriff's officials say they received a call around 3 a.m. regarding a shooting at 248 McCoy Lane. Before officers arrived, the 911 center advised the Sheriff’s Office that the caller had called back and stated that they were leaving with the victim and going to the hospital. The caller advised that they were driving a white Honda.

While the officers were responding to the location, one of the officers saw a white Honda vehicle speeding toward the hospital. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued toward the hospital.

Jasmin Rorie, 23, of Candor, died at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Officers secured the scene at 248 McCoy Lane. Investigators responding determined there had been a party at the residence, a single-wide mobile home, and that the shooting had occurred during the party.

Morrison-Junious is also facing numerous charges outside of Moore County, including driving while impaired, speeding, and fleeing in a motor vehicle to elude arrest.

AberdeenTimes reported an arrest was made yesterday. Makes me wonder who decides what stories get put in the pilot.

There is no other local "newspaper". At best it is a local Blog. Big difference in responsibilities and content.

((R.I.P. Jasmin)) So sad to have ruined the rest of his life at such a young age.

I agree healthcare. I would imagine nothing worse than the death of a young son or daughter.

WHAT A SCOOP! AWARD WINNING JOURNALISM. I guess we'll get the motive later?

This article reports that an arrest was made yesterday (Monday). Aberdeen Times posted 10 hours ago that an arrest was made yesterday. What's the difference?

If the Pilot is so tardy and lacks so much in being a good paper, why don't you stop reading it and find something else to bitch and complain about!
