S.P. Recreation Welcomes New Intern

Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department has welcomed its new summer intern, Meagan Rock.
Rock is a rising junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she is majoring in exercise and sport science with a minor in recreation administration.
Rock will be working on youth activities and camps with program coordinator Sue Gillis; athletics with Chris Wiley; senior and special events with Rynet Oxendine; administration with Vi Janz; park and playground maintenance with William Smith; and various tasks with department Director Robert Reeve.
"Southern Pines offers a very comprehensive internship program and I am very excited to learn about all the different aspects of a recreation and parks department" says Rock. "From inspecting playgrounds to lining ball fields, I know that I am going to enjoy the internship and gain crucial experience and skills that I will be able to bring to my future jobs."
Rock will be with the department for 12 weeks before returning to UNC- Chapel Hill in the fall.
