Carthage Man Faces Fraud Charges

A Carthage man is facing fraud charges after he allegedly used the identity of another to obtains services and goods.

On Monday, Moore County Sheriff’s investigators arrested Corey Lamont Bryan, 28, of the 300 block of Plank Road, Carthage, and charged him with three counts of identity theft, uttering forged instrument, obtaining property by false pretense and two counts of forgery/counterfeit instrument. He was placed in the Moore County jail on a $25,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is set for May 17 in Moore County District Court.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a report made on Feb. 9 by Joseph Vanskiver, a resident of Lee County. The fraud consisted of the subject using the personal information of Vanskiver to obtain goods in Moore County without permission.
