North Moore Finishes Eighth in League Golf

The North Moore golf team competed in the Yadkin Valley Conference’s fourth match of the season Tuesday at Siler City Country Club.

The nine-hole tournament was hosted by Chatham Central, who finished second overall in the team standings, 10 strokes behind match winner Gray Stone.

Gray Stone won its third tournament of year with a team score of 158. Following Chatham Central was Albemarle with a round of 170, West Montgomery with a 171, East Montgomery 198, South Stanly 203, South Davidson 206, North Moore 207 and North Rowan 209.

Gray Stone’s Eric Benson took individual honors with a 34, followed by teammate Chase Almond with a 36, West Montgomery’s Jordan Taylor with a 37. West’s Dylan Kennedy and Chatham Central’s Michael Koszulinski both carded a 38.

North Moore was led by Seth Bradley with a 47, followed by teammates Cole Garner with a 52, Mason Morris (53), Paul Grant (55), Brandon Purvis (56) and Alec Hall (58).

Gray Stone leads the overall team standings with a 641, followed by West with a 684, Albemarle 695, Chatham Central 703, South Davidson 798, South Stanly 829, East 833, North Moore 836 and North Rowan 848.

In the season’s individual standings, Benson leads with a net of 109, Taylor 111 and Kennedy 113. The golfers are allowed to drop their worst score, with Benson dropping a round of 40, Taylor 41 and Kennedy 42.

North Moore’s top golfer for the season is Bradley with net of 142, tying him for 20th place overall. Dillon Caviness and Morris are tied at 25th with net scores of 149 while teammate Garner is holding at 40th place overall.

The conference’s next nine-hole tournament is Tuesday at Piney Point Golf Course.
