First Bank Promotes Bingham and Lyons

First Bank has named Hugh Bingham senior vice president and regional executive.
The bank also announced that Andrew Lyons has been named manager at its downtown Southern Pines branch.
Bingham joined First Bank in November 2004, bringing nearly 20 years of banking experience to the company. Since 2006, Bingham has also been a member of the bank’s South Moore Advisory Board.
“This promotion acknowledges Hugh’s dedication and commitment to First Bank and our customers,” said Jerry Ocheltree, president and CEO of First Bank. “Hugh’s strong ties to the community will be a valuable asset in his new leadership role.”
Bingham grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington Senior High School. He attended Duke University and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology from Guilford College. He continued at Guilford College with post-graduate studies in accounting.
Bingham is president of the Moore County Community Foundation and vice chairman of St. Joseph of the Pines, a retirement and health services community in Southern Pines. He is a former board member and past treasurer of the Moore County Airport Authority and a member of the Airline Task Force.
Bingham and his wife, Jill, reside in Whispering Pines. The Binghams have four children: Jaye, Jim, William and Andy. The family attends Southern Pines United Methodist Church.
Lyons joined First Bank in 2007 and brings 12 years of industry experience to the position.
“Andrew’s industry knowledge combined with his commitment to the community makes him an excellent choice for this well-deserved promotion,” Bingham said. “We are honored to reward his hard work and dedication.”
Originally from Alexandria, Va., Lyons graduated from St. Stephen’s High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University. He is member of the board of directors for the Moore County Chamber of Commerce.
In addition, Lyons serves as president of the Public Education Foundation of Moore County, president of Junior Achievement of Moore County, treasurer of the Southern Pines Business Association, treasurer of the Moore County Historical Association and a member of the Southern Pines Rotary Club.
Lyons and his wife, Heather, live in Pinehurst with their three children: Noah, Grace and Aidan. They are members of Community Presbyterian Church.
