The Moore County Board of Education will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday on the proposed 2012-2013 budget.
The hearing will be held in the board room of the Moore County school system's administrative office.
Superintendent Aaron Spence presented a recommended budget of $95.8 million to the Moore County Board of Education last week. The school system expects to receive $62.3 million from the state, $6 million in federal funding, and $25.5 million in local funding.
The school system had to reduce its budget by $3.4 million this year to accommodate state funding shortfalls. Next year, the system is expected to reduce its budget by $4.3 million.
School system spokesman Tim Lussier said the public is invited to attend the budget hearing.
"We always look forward to receiving input from the public, and certainly want people to take an interest in and be informed about school financial matters," Lussier said. "We hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity to share their thoughts with the board."
The school system offices are at 5277 U.S. 15-501 South in Carthage.
