The Pinecrest baseball team (4-1) topped off a busy week by defeating Lee County 14-5 in Sanford Thursday evening.

Cam Embler led the Patriots’ 11-hit attack with a double, two singles and five runs batted in. Alan Watson singled twice, scored three times and knocked in two.

Right-hander Weston Phillips pitched into the fifth inning and received credit for his first win of the season. Justin Mace shut out the Jackets the rest of the way.

The Patriots won two of three games during a week that began with a loss to Union Pines. They return to action on Monday with a 5 p.m. home game against Asheboro.
