Simpson is no stranger to Pinehurst No. 2. He was a semifinalist in the 107 Men's North and South in 2007. The prior year he advanced to the third round of the tournament.

Webb used to come in to my shop on the weekends with his parents, in the late 1990s, to get milkshakes. He was always a polite, well mannered young man. It's great to see him doing so well.
