Montgomery County Announces Programs

Wayne Adams, a Montgomery County author, will present his new book, "11," at a book signing at the Montgomery County Public Library in Troy, Tuesday, June 12, at 6 p.m.

"Dream Big, Read" is the theme for this summer's reading program at Montgomery County Public Libraries. Sign up to read and attend programs at Biscoe, Candor, Mount Gilead, Star and Troy libraries during June, July and August.

Every five picture books or each chapter book read earns a prize. Those collecting all 20 prizes are awarded a special grand prize. Anything read through the summer - picture books, chapter books, comic books, magazines - counts. Listening to stories and books also wins prizes.

Programs are for all ages. They will begin on June 14 and continue until Aug. 13.

See Sean Amidan's giant creatures at "Cold Blooded Encounters" Thursday, June 14, at 10 and 11:30 a.m. at the Biscoe Community Center, Biscoe. "Pan for Gold" at the Star Library on Monday, June 18, at 10 a.m., with the Gold History Corporation.

Mark Lippard, of Sure-Fire Entertainment, performs fire-eating, juggling, unicycling and more at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Biscoe Community Center, Biscoe. The Fort Fisher Aquarium presents "Our Living Seashells" at Troy Elementary School on Wednesday, June 20, at 10 and 11:30 a.m.

Dan the Animal Man will present Wild Animal Encounters at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at the Biscoe Community Center, Biscoe.

The North Carolina Zoo will present "Sense-Sational Animals" at Mount Gilead Elementary School Auditorium on Friday, June 22, at 10 a.m.
