The Southern District Auxiliary Convention will convene in Greensboro June 13-17.
St. Peters will be going to St. Ruth on Friday, June 22, to Eldress Lillian Kearns' pastoral anniversary.
St. Peters will be going to Greater St. James in Charlotte on Sunday, June 24.

This year's community Vacation Bible School will be held June 18-22 at Vass First Baptist. There will be classes for all ages, and supper will be served each evening.
Please remember, with positive thoughts and prayers, all of our soldiers and their families, whether here in the States or abroad.
Sunday at Mount Pleasant was Graduation Recognition Sunday. This year the church recognized 14 individuals who were moving from one level of education to another.
The high school graduates who were recognized each received a Bible from the church and a daily devotional from the pastor and his wife. All of our high school graduates are from Union Pines this year, and they are: Cebrina Deese, Megan Dull, John Floyd, Cynthia Hohman, Neil Powers, and Jenna Smith.
Mrs. Monica Joyner Little graduated from Sandhills Community College with a diploma in surgical technology.
The junior and senior youth had a water slide party Sunday afternoon at the church and a hot dog cookout. There were about 25 in attendance.
The church received a great blessing Sunday morning with two new families coming forward at the end of the church service and requesting membership in the church. Wayne and Wanda Parker, from Woodlake, and Walt and Rita Perine, from Sanford, were joyously welcomed into the church family.
Journey 'N Faith, a Southern gospel group, will be providing special music when Cypress Presbyterian Church hosts a hot dog and hamburger supper this Saturday evening, starting at 6 p.m., June 9, in the church fellowship hall. Journey 'N Faith is Southern gospel at its finest. The group performs current Southern gospel songs, some old standard hymns and their own original songs. There will be a pre-anniversary program at St. Ruth UCOG in West End June 8 at 7:30 p.m. with the speaker Evangelist Louise Thomas of Mount Carmel in Raeford.
The pastor's anniversary will begin June 20, 21 and 22, and close out on the 24th. There will be a different speaker each night. The pastor of St. Ruth is Eldress Lillian Kearns.
Holy Temple Church on Anderson Street, where the pastor is Elder Allen Moore, will begin having services every first and third Sunday. Everyone is invited to attend.

The substance abuse awareness information sessions have been suspended by the Rev. Carolyn Sanders Radcliff until further notice. The community thanks her and other participants who were instrumental in implementing this program for several months.

The Moore County chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will have its first golf tournament June 16 at Whispering Pines Country Club on the East Course. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and shotgun start at 9 a.m., with four-player captain's choice using team handicaps.
A boxed lunch will be included in the fee, which is $80 a player or $320 a team. Prizes will be offered (hole-in-one prize is a 2013 car).

Thanks for supporting the "Hill Top Shops" this year. They include Not "Jus" Any Bag, Bono Abstract Clothing, Sew What?, 360 Creations Beauty Salon and New 2 U Everyday Rummage. Fresh Discipleship Center, with Pastor Cora Murphy, resides on "the Hill."
There is also an outreach ministry with household goods and clothing for those in need on "the Hill." It serves many throughout the county and is owned and managed by Minister Gerald and Tia Brown.

Pastor Mary Kelly will be the guest speaker at Outreach Ministry for Jesus Penecostal Assembly in Aberdeen on June 9 at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a PUSH program at God's House of Prayer Ministry on June 10 at 11 a.m. The program is sponsored by Deaconness Catherine McKeithen.
On June 16, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., a prayer breakfast will be given at the Vass Community Building in Vass. Also on the same day, a Family and Friends Day will be at the same location but at 6 p.m. The programs are in support of Pastor Mary Kelly's pastor aide. The programs are sponsored by Janet Miles. Tickets will be sold for the prayer breakfast.
