The Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department is offering a hands-on class for potential baby sitters.

The class teaches participants how to handle an emergency, interview for a baby-sitting job, feed children, make good, responsible decisions, supervise children, perform first aid and more.

Register for the upcoming class scheduled for Friday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the S.P. Police Department Community Room. Registration is $25 for residents and $50 for nonresidents.

"Bring lunch and a drink and be ready to learn and have fun," says a spokesman.
