Union Pines Offers Summer Sports Camps

The Union Pines baseball program is offering an individual skills camp, open to all rising third- through ninth-graders with a desire to develop their baseball skills, from June 18-21 at Viking Field in Cameron, with sessions running from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The cost of the camp is $50.
According to head coach Chad Hill, the goal of the camp is to provide an opportunity for all camp participants to develop their fundamental skills and increase their knowledge of the game while having fun. All campers are encouraged to bring a positive attitude, T-shirt, baseball pants, cap, glove, cleats, water bottle, sneakers and, if possible, a bat and/or helmet.
Campers will be led by the Viking baseball player in stations, activities, skill development sessions and game play. The camp will provide skill sessions in defense, pitching, hitting and baserunning and will be directed by Hill and assistant coach Eric Marion.
Registration for the camp is at 8 a.m. on June 18 before the initial session. However, Hill encourages campers to pre-register by sending a check to Union Pines High School – at 1981 Union Church Rd, Cameron 28236 – attention to Chad Hill and payable to UPHS Baseball.

Volleyball
The Union Pines Lady Vikings annual summer volleyball camp is scheduled for June 18-20 at Bob Ward Gymnasium with clinic times from 9 a.m. to noon.
Open to rising fourth- through ninth-grade girls with a desire to develop their volleyball skills, the goal of the camp is to provide an opportunity for all camp participants to develop their fundamental volleyball skills.
Directed by head coach Leslie Fish, assistant coach Valerie Maness and former Union Pines players, the camp cost is $40 per camper.
Pre-registration is available by sending a check to Union Pines High School – attention: Leslie Fish and payable to UPHS Volleyball. Registration is also available on site at 8:45 a.m. prior to the first clinic.
