Who Has Amnesia?

In reference to the letter from Wes May (“Amnesia Obama’s Primary Weapon,” May 27), it’s plain to see which political party Mr. May is for, and therein is the biggest case of amnesia that strikes the voters.
They forget who got the country in the mess it is in, George Bush and his Halliburton sidekick, Dick Cheney.
My ole daddy used to say the Republicans would vote for a gorilla if he was running on the Republican ticket.

I totally agree with you, Mr. Seevers. Blind allegiance to a party is never a good thing.
Now, brace yourself for the attack of the right wing flying monkeys.....

Im not a right wing monkey. But GWB did not mae this problem.
DoubleHeroides 11 months, 3 weeks ago
@The_AnonymusProfit. I can sympathize with you, I’m not a “right wing monkey” either, nor am I some kind of liberal, but to ignore the actions of former President Bush, his administration’s policies and their effects upon the last decade is a disservice to political analysis and history itself. The effects of his administration’s policies did not end with the inauguration of President Obama leaving him to create the economic climate in a vacuum during just one (1) term in office. Some of former President Bush’s and his administration’s policies did have a negative effect on the current economic climate, as minor as one may be able to make them seem at the end of the day they cannot be fully ignored or dismissed as irrelevant to the course of events in this country.
DoubleHeroides 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Please note that the above post does not place the entire responsibility of the current economic climate on the administration of former President Bush. It is merely to state that the actions of administrations continue to have effects over time even after a president has left office, good, bad or indifferent as they may be and to dismiss any and all responsibility of the policies of a former president whatsoever is a disservice to the realities of how the economy, politics and the world works.

I believe we can trace the problems back to 9/11 when 4 planes decided to become deadly missle attacks against the US.

Sounds just like Obama...almost four years later....
OldSpook 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Four years later and still, nothing but finger pointing. Has anyone in Washington developed a means of getting people back to work? (Hint, the answer is not just no, but Hell no!) Does anyone in Washington care if people get back to work? Only if it will get them elected or re-elected. Forget about help from Washington, you really don't want it. Remember; "We're from the government and we're here to help."

Would be better than the monkey we have in the White House now.
"They forget who got the country in the mess it is in, George Bush and his Halliburton sidekick, Dick Cheney."
Any specifics to back that statement or are you just blind enough to truly blame "the mess" solely on Bush and Cheney? Are you saying the dumbocrats had nothing to do with any of "the mess" we're in? But to answer your original question "Who has amnesia?...it appears YOU DO !

DH i do not mean to say that i think that all of bushes decisions were perfect. To this day the tarp bailout still makes me queasy. Having said that. Gop politicians during the bush years did make attempts to stop what they saw was going to happen. The blame is equally split between bad regulation and government interference in economics, and the american people who decided that their own personal debt was not an issue. This was a crisis made many years ago by all parties included. However the current administrations tactic to take no responsibility for current financial and economic woes is pitiful and cowardly. A man is not a man till he can publically admit he was wrong

If this letter was the best he could do, I would hate to have seen the rough drafts. The only consolation is that he could have said nothing and used many more words.
lakeview 11 months, 3 weeks ago
TAP- Well said.
Speaking of insanity. The White House today said that it is critical to maintain Obama's policies despite the dismal jobs report this morning.
Mean while- Democrats blame the terrible jobs report and the nearly 300 point downturn in the market squarely on the shoulders on George Bush for his one hour return to the White House yesterday.
AFCHIEF 11 months, 3 weeks ago
So the Dems were in control of the house and senate the last 2 years of Bush and the first 2 years of Obamanation, over 4 years total. How quick the liberals forget IMPORTANT FACT that Peolosi and Reid, Frank and Dodd totally screwed this country up.

Hey dude...just one comment to start the good argument...FIVE TRILLION dollars of OUR money in just over three years!!! Blame that on Bush?? Yeah, Right!! Lowered our credit rating? Spent more than our GDP? Lowered our respect in foreign lands? Said we would have transparency in government? Said our bills would be on the internet before they were signed? Said Obamacare would lower our spending on health issues? Brought our troops home from the wars? Closed Gitmo?? Spent a fortune on a "clunker" program? Climb a tree to tell a lie before standing on the ground to tell the truth?? Yeah, you keep right on cheering for Obama...I'll be voting for Romney!

AP - read my post again.......... I never implied anyone forfeited their right of expression simply because of a lack of intelligence. I just replied that what the "moron" said struck me as exuding trailer trash qualities. Now - if this post sounds like something an 8th grader would make - then I imagine you just might be able to digest it without too much difficulty.

Clarabelle. You can not stand for freedom of speech when it is convenient. Standing for freedom of speech means supporting the person who says something that you woukd spend a lifetime trying to stop. Freedom of speech means celebrating the person who calls our troops rapists and murderer's. That is freedom. Calling someone names for exercising this freedom makes you the Communist not lakeview. We all rail against bible thumpers who paraphrase the bible for political reasons. Yet then we do the same thing when it comes to the bill of rights. This is why we get nothing done. If you want to fix something then take the time to have a disscussion. If you want to argue then please continue. I would invite any democrat to have a disscusion with me. I guarantee that they would walk away saying now that was productive. Its time to grow up and work as adults.
We constantly tell our children to be mature not to fight and to work together. Bow fiting that we cant practice what we preach.

HERE IS SOME AMNESIA FROM OBAMANATION
The Quote of the Decade: The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. ~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

geoffcutler 11 months, 3 weeks ago
If he holds back like McCain, the lamest campaign in Republican history...it could be close. Not worried at this point. The nation has seen enough. More than enough! Latest job numbers and Supreme Court likely overrule of Oblundercare will sink the Socialist.
Have to say, though, nice to see the Obamas gracious and welcoming to the Bushes last week. For the moment, Barack almost seemed presidential.
