On first Saturdays of June, July and August, there are gatherings of square dancers from North Carolina and as far away as Virginia at the West End Gym.

In June, the Yellow Rockers hosted a dance with national square dance caller, Mike Sikorsky, from Mesa, Ariz. Chris Hicks provided cuing for round dancing.

The July gathering featured Vance McDaniel, a Triangle area caller, and Minnetta Morgan cueing line dancing.

For the Yellow Rockers' anniversary dance, in August, international square dance caller, Jerry Story, will call squares and Chris Hicks will cue round dancing.

"The Yellow Rockers go all out cooking delicious snacks for the anniversary dance attendees," says a spokesman. "Square dancers from anywhere are welcome."
