On Thursday, June 21, approximately 70 members and guests of the Linden Garden Club of Pinewild gathered at the historic Weymouth Center in Southern Pines to celebrate the last meeting before the club's summer break.

A cocktail hour of wine and hors d'oeuvres was followed by a pot-luck luncheon and desserts prepared by the members.

President Kathryn Talton, gave a brief synopsis of the club's accomplishments and thanked and presented gifts to Nona Burrell, treasurer, and outgoing vice president, Joan Power, as well as the various chairpersons for their continued effort on the club's behalf.

She then inducted Margie Butcher as the new vice president, who will serve a two-year term.

The whole event was orchestrated by the luncheon hostesses with the theme of "Sunflowers."

The club members will convene again Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Pinewild Country Club.
