Two on Motorcycle Injured in Wreck with Vehicle

Southern Pines Police and Fire departments responded to a wreck involving a motorcycle and a car occurred around 3:45 p.m. Monday afternoon on the corner of Indiana Avenue, Weymouth Road and Morganton Road.

Two people were transported to area hospitals after the motorcycle they were riding was involved in an accident with another vehicle today.

The accident happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. on East Indiana Avenue near the intersection with Morganton and Weymouth roads.

Emergency personnel carry the patient out of the ambulance and over to the helicopter.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken by helicopter to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He apparently suffered head and hip injuries, according to first responders.

The passenger was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital with unknown injuries.

The names of the victims have not been released.
