Jay Biggs has joined Pinehurst Resort as director of retail operations. He replaces Stephen Cryan, who had held the position since shortly before the 1999 U.S. Men’s Open.

According to a release from the resort, Biggs has extensive experience in golf retail and operations, including a history of significantly growing merchandise sales.

He was recognized as the PGA of America’s 2001 Merchandiser of the Year for the Iowa section and eight times has been honored by Golf Digest as having a Top 100 Golf Shop.

“We’re thrilled to add someone with Jay’s experience and expertise,” Don Padgett II, president of Pinehurst Resort, said in the release. “With his proven track record, Jay will be instrumental in helping to elevate the Pinehurst Resort experience.”

Biggs has been with ClubCorp since 1993, most recently serving as general manager of The Country Club of the South in Johns Creek, Ga. He served as director of operations and membership at Firestone Country Club from 2004-10 and as the club’s director of golf operations from 1993-97.

Biggs also has served as director of golf at clubs in Kansas and Iowa, as well as regional director of golf over three clubs in Virginia.

He has a Bachelor of Science in business management from Indiana University and is a PGA golf professional.
