Welcome Words of Encouragement

Here’s a tip o’ the hat and sincere thanks to Dr. David Bruton for his insightful essay on the health care quagmire in our country (July 8). David is well-credentialed in this field, and I listened to him carefully, much as we and other parents did in his office at Sandhills Pediatrics when our children were young.
As the rhetoric is heated and most articles or pundits confusing, it was refreshing to hear sound analysis and practical suggestions. When it is a common (and unhelpful) practice to blame this party or that special interest group, we should be buoyed by his closing words of encouragement about our local medical leadership consortium “hard at work building an integrated, patient-centered health care delivery system.”
I applaud his professional language, addressing the health care act (PP-ACA) and clarifying issues.
Yet, the special interests he clearly identified are powerful indeed and politically and financially well-connected. It will take more folks like Dr. Bruton, intelligent and experienced, to work together to attend the care of the health of all our citizens now and for years to come.
So, Dr. Bruton, you invite all of us stakeholders to get involved in this “health care revolution.” Write us again to tell me and others in the “patient/consumer” category how to make our voices heard.
And, thank you.
