Bill Harrison and Denise Godfrey, along with an army of volunteers, have met and planned the best Vacation Bible School ever at Mount pleasant Christian Church! Parents are encouraged to preregister their children for this school, as all children must be registered to attend.
The theme for this years school is "Fishin' on a Mission." Special events for this year's school will be "Tales in the Belly of the Whale," where the children will actually enter a mock whale and have their Bible stories told to them. They will have their food in the "Oceans Cafe," and there will be "Fishy Games" galore.
The school will be held July 24-26. On that Friday night, all the parents and church members are invited to share in the commencement services, which will be followed by a homemade ice cream, cookie and cake social for all in attendance.
This coming Saturday, four members of the church - Janet Chilton, Rhonda Chilton, Jessica McAlvey and Tina Kerrigan - will take part in the St. Baldrick's Cancer Challenge by having their heads shaved. Money "earned" in this challenge will go toward research aimed at finding a cure for childhood cancer. The ladies came to the front of the church to show off their golden locks, and next Sunday they will be back to show off their commitment to St. Baldrick's.
Mount Pleasant holds worship services at 11 a.m. each Sunday. Dr. Greg Poplin is the pastor. Everyone in the community is invited to attend services.
A closing celebration for the Summer Enrichment program at Cypress Presbyterian Church will be held at 6 p.m. this Saturday in the church fellowship hall. Come and meet the children and their parents, and enjoy good fellowship and great food.
The choir will practice on Thursday this week (instead of Wednesday) at 7 p.m.
With grateful hearts, the congregation at Cypress Church will be back in the upgraded sanctuary this Sunday. A sanctuary rededication service will be held Sunday, July 29, during the 11 a.m. worship service.
A covered-dish lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. Come join Cypress as it celebrates this special time of growth.

Reco Cain received the annual college scholarship from the Taylortown Ministerial Alliance at last Saturday evening's service. Congratulations to Reco, and special thanks to the ministerial alliance.

Gladys Garris was given a surprise birthday party by her good friend, Almeta, of Sanford, and about a dozen Taylortown senior citizens last week at a local restaurant. Gladys thanks everyone for their kindness and display of love on her special day.
