Parents Should Set a Better Example

I would like to say what a wonderful Fourth of July parade was held in our lovely village of Pinehurst.
It was wonderful of Stone Cold Creamery to pass out ice cream samples, but I am extremely disappointed in those parents whose children opened every piece of candy and threw their wrappers on the ground as well as their ice cream cups and spoons.
When I asked them if they were going to pick up after their children, the comment was “the troops come through and clean up.”
Shame on you for not teaching your children that littering is bad, not to mention a crime.

Parents who care don't raise children who don't, Unfortunately those children were following the example set by their parents.

Have to agree with Bentpan....children who are raised by caring parents would not do that...and parents who care would make the children pick it up. Unfortunately there are a large number of people out there who feel like someone owes it to them to pick up after them. Hopefully there are more people who care than those who feel they are entitled.

Happily most of the parents around me did in fact pick up after their children but then again most of the parents around me were not allowing their children to simply open up the candy that had been thrown out to simply stuff it in their mouths. The fact that the mother just assumed someone else would pick up after her children was appauling to me. And I forgot to mention that where the parents both stood was both a trash barrel and recycle barrel.

As a child I would have been in time out. That's the period of time between my mom smacking me in the head for littering like a selfish spoiled jackass, and me waking up. Ahhhh the good 'ol days!
