The Rooster's Wife keeps cool this summer with plenty of hot music.
As part of the Blues Crawl, Eden Brent and the Harris Brothers take the stage Friday, July 13, at 8 p.m. Tickets for that event are $18 in advance and $22 the day of the show.
Appearing Sunday, July 15, are consummate musicians and storytellers Kim and Reggie Harris. The pair are dynamic and superbly talented traditional folk performers whose captivating stage presence and unique harmonies have earned the respect and love of audiences throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe for more than 30 years.
Kim and Reggie Harris combine a strong folk and gospel legacy with a solid background in classical, rock, jazz and pop music.
Creative curiosity, years of road and stage experience, and interactions with performers such as Pete Seeger, Ysaye Barnwell, Jay Leno, Tom Paxton, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Harry Belafonte and others, has led them to produce music that entertains and inspires.
Their recordings "Steal Away" and Get On Board" (Appleseed Recordings), and support materials developed in their work with the Kennedy Center, have earned wide acclaim for their contributions to the resources and knowledge presented through stories and music in the history of the Underground Railroad and the modern civil rights movement.
Their appearances include the Kennedy Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Smithsonian Institution and the PSALM Festival in Graz, Austria.
Poplar Knight Spot is located at 114 Knight St. in downtown Aberdeen. The doors open at 6 p.m. for Sunday's show, with the music kicking off at 6:45.
