“Figure It Out,” a television game show made popular in the late 1990s by Nickelodeon, is experiencing a rebirth.

Maggie Batson, a 9-year-old from Whispering Pines, will be ushering in the show’s return to television.

Maggie has already been featured nationally on the PBS show “Biz Kid$,” a television program that promotes young entrepreneurs and business designs. This recognition was for her company, “Twice Loved by Maggie B.”

The series, which ran for four seasons, from July 1997 until December 1999, began running new episodes in June. The show highlights children with special skills or unique accomplishments.

A panel of four Nick celebrities tries to guess the predetermined phrase that describes the contestants talent. Prizes are amassed at the end of each round. The celebrities attempt to uncover the secret words, while avoiding being drenched in slime.

Nickelodeon approached Maggie’s family in February and asked Maggie to send an audition tape discussing her business and some of the charity work that her business allows her to accomplish.

The phone call confirming her selection and explaining the details of the trip to Los Angles for the shooting of the first episode was very exciting, the family said.

Details about her performance on the show are still being kept confidential, but Maggie would admit to having a wonderful time and looking forward to her next television opportunity.

She has an impressive list of accomplishments: a startup company that promotes environmental awareness and allocates a portion of its profits to charity, being nationally recognized and televised for her efforts as a young entrepreneur and now, the newest contestant on a Nickelodeon game show.

Will she win and walk away a victor in her opening debut? Or will she be covered in slime as the celebrities uncover the secret words in her special talent?

Local resident can tune in at 7 p.m. this Thursday as the new cast of “Figure It Out” tries to unlock Maggie’s secret.
