McFarland's Art Showcased at Eye Candy Gallery

Known for her flair, rich colors and strong composition, Irene McFarland has pursued her painting passion for almost 40 years.

Eye Candy Gallery will showcase her luminous landscapes, engaging floral designs and tranquil seascapes beginning Friday, July 6.

McFarland's paintings will remain on display through July 20.

She has exhibited in shows and galleries throughout the Eastern Seaboard. Her work has hung in prestigious galleries such as the William Reis Gallery in Camp Hill, Pa., and won numerous awards, including "Best in Show," at many judged art shows over the years.

Today, her paintings can be found in the Stone Harbor, N.J., Chamber of Commerce, U.S. congressional offices and many homes throughout the United States.

McFarland has a degree in fine arts and served for many years as an art teacher. She has also worked as a scientific illustrator for the U.S. Geological Survey and as a floral designer.

McFarland works in oil, acrylic and watercolor. She draws her inspiration from the beauty of nature and occasionally accepts commissions from patrons.

Irene McFarland will be meeting gallery guests at the opening reception scheduled for July 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served; wine and beer will be available for purchase.

Eye Candy Gallery and Wine Bar features local and regional artists. The gallery is located at 275 NE Broad St., Southern Pines.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and other hours by appointment.
