Two original members of the Southern Pines Rotary Club, Bill Samuels and Felton Capel, are still active members in the club, which was founded in 1981.

In celebration of the many contributions these men have made and the steadfast loyalty they have exhibited to the sustainability of the Southern Pines Rotary Club, the Rotary Foundation has begun the Capel-Samuels Fellowship in their honor.

Four members, Bob Harling, Charles Davis, Lewis Hershey and Frank Dean, were recognized as Capel-Samuels Fellows at the June 15th meeting of the Southern Pines Rotary Club.

Contributions to the Southern Pines Rotary Foundation fund many worthy causes, including scholarships to Pinecrest High School students.

Susan Albert, graduating senior at Pinecrest, received her scholarship check at the June 15 meeting.

The Southern Pines Rotary Club meets every Friday for a lunch meeting at the Mid Pines Country Club in Southern Pines.

Those interested in membership should visit the website www.southernpinesrotary.org.
