Patriots Rally to Get Win Over Hoke

Pinecrest bounced back from an early 5-1 deficit to defeat Hoke County 10-5 in a Carolina Scholastic Summer League baseball game played in Raeford Monday night.
The Patriots improved to 4-4 with their third win in a row. They were scheduled to entertain Lee County on Tuesday before traveling to Sanford to meet the Jackets on Thursday.
The Patriots took advantage of errors and walks to draw even at 5-5 with a four-run fourth inning. They took the lead with a single run in the fifth before tacking on four more in the sixth.
Hunter Phillips relieved Tanner Haley on the mound and pitched a scoreless 4 2/3 innings to gain credit for the win. The Patriots out-hit the Bucks seven to five.
The Pinecrest junior varsity team improved to 5-1-1 with a 9-6 home win over Northwood on Monday. Thursday’s action at Lee County begins with the jayvee contest at 5 p.m.
