The Pinehurst Garden Club is getting ready for spring.

The first general meeting of the 2012 Pinehurst Garden Club Plant Sale committee took place on Jan. 16 at the home of Sue Mitchell, who is the 2012 chairperson of the event.

Branch plant sale representatives and committee chairs met to discuss plans for the annual sale, which will be held on Saturday, April 21, in the Pinehurst village sand parking lot.

Annuals including geraniums, begonias, impatiens and vincas can be pre-ordered, beginning in February, and picked up on Saturday, April 21. On the day of the sale, a variety of hanging baskets and additional plants and herbs can also be purchased.

The plant sale profits are used to fund a full scholarship each year to a landscape gardening student at Sandhills Community College and for community beautification projects in Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Carthage and Aberdeen.

Contact Sue Mitchell at (910) 420-2661, Irene Corbin at (910) 295-0730, or any Pinehurst Garden Club member to place an order and support the garden club's many community projects.
