An 8-inch water line burst around noon Tuesday, cutting water service to a few Pinehurst customers according to an official with Moore County Public Utilities.
The broken line happened near Pine Valley Road. It was caused by a tree root, according to Ben Vaughn, operations manager for Moore County Public Utilities.
Vaughn said he hopes affected customers will have water by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
"We have to remove the tree that caused it first, then we can repair the line," he said.
Water was seen gushing from the ground off the 18th fairway of Pinehurst No. 3.
