Notebook: Linda Bell Gets Hole-in-One

Hole-in-One: Linda Bell, a member at Pinewild, scored her ace Jan. 12, on the 17th hole of the Holly Course. Linda used her 9-iron to cover the 85 yards to the green. Her witnesses were Ann Amspoker, Bobbi Erdman and BF Fulcher. Linda reported that just an ordinary day of golf turned into a joyful celebration.

Pinewild: The Men’s Golf Association played in foursomes and the game was two best balls on yellow and white flag holes, and three best balls on red flag holes. Competition was on the Holly Course. Team winners: Andy Gwaltney, Pat Bresnahan, Dick Horky, Paul Kauffman, 22 under par; Tom Cecka, Robert Watt, Gary Mott, Don Schneider, 21 under par; Johann Rudzitis, Michael Young, Ronald Cherep, Bob Livingston, 17 under par (MOC); Bob Weber, Harold Bell, Dick Mack, David Blessing, 17 under par (MOC).

The Men’s Golf Association played Jan. 16 in a one best ball of the foursome contest and the winners were: Ken Pomeroy, Glenn Bernhard, Bud Henty, Al Gaeta, 54 (MOC); Steve Luckhaus, Tom Lyon, Tony Rodriquez, Charley Frick, 54 (MOC).

The Men’s Golf Association played Jan. 18 in a one low gross and one low net ball needed for scoring. The winners were Ken Pomeroy, Rich Moran, Charley Frick, and Bud Henty with 133.

Whispering Pines: The Men’s Golf Association played Jan. 18 in a two best balls of the foursome tournament. Competition was on the East Course with the following results: Jim Phillingane, Bob Flygar, Don MacIlvaine, Rich Mancuso, 128; Bob Adams, Tommy Nacca, John Gillis, Art Woodward, 130; Bill Stripling, Jerry Leary, Roger Amoroso, Bob Flesca, 130.
