The Union Pines Vikings' wrestling team topped Western Harnett 40-30 in a dual-team conference clash for first place, Wednesday night at Bob Ward Gymnasium in Cameron.

With the victory the the two-time defending 3-A Cape Fear Valley Conference champion Vikes moved to 5-0 in league play. Western Harnett (18-7) suffered its first conference loss in the dual to drop to 4-1 in the CFVC.

Vike seniors Michael Brennan, Andreas Berryman, Billy Hornbaker, Jaiden Lindsey, Philip Mondi and Josh Huskey were honored in a special ceremony conducted at center mat before the dual.
