Our Strange Society

So glad the monkey was found.

I just cannot understand (our) society.

There was a human being, missing for three weeks, with hardly any

news coverage, and it surely didn’t make the front page. He was found deceased.

So glad your monkey made it home.

Yes, there could have been more coverage of the missing man. Sorry he was not found alive. Glad the monkey was found alive. Really glad that Harris Blake is not running for re-election.

I was thinking about the same thing the other day...hopefully (but not likely) the Pilot will actually follow up on the missing man story, since the initial one they printed had only a little information. I am curious as to what happened to him and why he was found where he was. I cannot imagine how awful it must have been for his friends and family, they are in my thoughts and prayers.

exactly, ww101st. I am always under the impression that there is a real shoestring budget at the pilot, or (even worse) a feeling that having a reporter who actually does stories and follows up is just not that important. It is always kind of sad to see WRAL have more details, and present them faster and more accurately about local events than the Pilot does. The paper is almost too quick to throw up a BREAKING NEWS!! headline here on the site, and then only provide about 30% of the info about it, while other out of town news outlets have the whole story only minutes later. Shouldnt our local paper be focused on the details and how a story impacts us, as opposed to only reporting that "it happened"? You will find that this paper is much more interested with small town politics and fluff stories than anything else.
