Morgen Kilbourn, an award-winning equine sculptor who recently joined the artists of Hollyhocks Art Gallery, will be teaching a one-day beginner animal sculpting class on Jan. 28.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who has ever wanted to try their hand at sculpting," says gallery owner Jane Casnellie. "At the end of the class students will have a completed piece to keep and display, while learning some basic principals of proportion, anatomy and movement essentials from professional sculptor Morgen Kilbourn. We are so fortunate to have a sculptor of Morgen's caliber at the gallery."
Kilbourn has been sculpting since she was a small child, learning the art of sculpting from her grandfather and her father.
"The gallery is a great setting for classes offering much inspiration, and students may bring their own lunch or order lunch from Elliott's restaurant if they wish," says Casnellie. "I encourage those would-be sculptors to give it a try. It will be an interesting and fun day."

All materials and tools will be provided, and students need only bring an idea and pictures of whatever they wish to sculpt.
The event is Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $110 per student (limited to nine students).
The class will be held at Hollyhocks Art Gallery, 905 Linden Road, Pinehurst.
Call (910) 255-0665 or reserve in person at Elliotts Provision Company, located next to the gallery.
