The Sandhills Community College basketball team suffered its second loss of the season 108-103 at Queen City Prep Wednesday evening.

Behind 42-39 at halftime, the Flyers (14-2) trailed by as many as 12 early in the second half before battling back to take the lead with about five minutes remaining. The difference in the outcome came at the foul line where the Trailblazers went 32-for-43 to 11-for-17 for the Flyers.

Louis Craft, 20, Tramaine Pride, 19, T.J. Jones, 17, Dre Huntley, 14, and Markell Lotharp, 12, were the leading scorers for the Flyers. The Trailblazers, who were defeated by the Flyers in December, were led by Tarik Phillip with 31 and Josh Kirk with 20.

The Flyers return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Greensboro to meet a Guilford College junior varsity team. On Thursday, they entertain Louisburg College (9-2) the only other team to defeat them this season.

Also looming ahead is a home game against Region X rival Davidson Community College (12-1) on Jan. 19. In the last NJCAA Division III poll released Dec. 13, Sandhills was tied for second and Davidson was eighth.
