Not an Overreaction

I don’t blame Greg Zywocinski, chairman of the Southern Pines Appearance Commission, for walking out of Tuesday’s (Feb. 14) monthly meeting, followed by the resignation of four of its members the following day.

Granted, I do not know the whole story, but indeed it was inconsiderate for the Southern Pines Town Council to appoint three new members to the Appearance Commission without getting input from the Appearance Commission.

The editorial in Sunday’s Pilot (Feb. 19) suggests those resigning were overreacting, and it was a “Needless Blowup on Appointments.” In my opinion, it’s the other way around. It appears to me it’s the person who wrote the editorial who is overreacting to those resigning from the Appearance Commission.

Martha, as the tree hugger in chief in Southern Pines, it comes as no surprise that you would unequivocally support fellow liberal in arms Greg Z.

Good luck with that, and good riddance to those who think the tail wags the dog.

Irish...I'd say that when you start donating as much of your time to this town as Greg Z does, then you might be able to spout some constructive criticism...until then you're just belly aching to hear yourself!
