Hole-In-One: Cal Fulcher, a member at Pinewild, scored his ace Feb. 6, on hole No. 3 of the Magnolia Course. He used his 6-iron for the 157-yard shot to the green. Witnesses to this, his fourth hole-in-one, his second at Pinewild, were Fred Berry and Rick DiCamillo.
Bob Watt, a member at Pinewild, aced the 134-yard 8th hole of the Holly Course Feb. 7, using his 8-iron to reach the green. This was his fifth hole-in-one and his third at Pinewild. Ron Skanderson and Jeff Scofield completed the threesome.
Bob Weber, Pinewild Men’s Golf Association tournament director, scored his ace Feb. 15, on hole No. 3 at Tobacco Road. He used his pitching wedge for the 125-yard shot to the green. Witnesses were Norm Zanetti and Walt Blackwell. This was his second hole in one.
Ron Cherep, a member at Pinewild, recorded his ace Feb. 17 on the 135-yard, 12th hole, of the Magnolia Course. Ron used his 5-hybrid, and his witnesses were Cal Erdman, Tom Patochek and Austin Sweet. This was his first hole-in-one and he’s glad to be a member of the Hole-in-One Club.
Anita Brewer, a member at Pinewild, aced the 147-yard 15th hole of the Magnolia Course on Feb. 21. Anita used her driver to reach the green, and her witnesses were Liz Polston and Diane Erley.
Knollwood: The Sandblasters played Feb. 21 in a one best ball of the foursome format. Jim Braunscheidel, Jim Burrill, Dick Lawrenson, Blind Draw, 26 (MOC); Wallace Gourley, Dean Walker, Mac Andrews, Dick Baird, 26 (MOC); Ron Flock, John Mannion, Bob Mellinger, Derrick North, 27.
Wallace Gourley won low gross with 37, and Derrick North won low net with 31. Richard Maderia won closest to the pin.
Longleaf: In an individual low net format, using full handicaps, the winners were: Ron Schutts, 59; Jim Walker, tied at 65, with Marco Cantele; Hugh Mensch, tied at 66, with Bob Saenz.
Seven Lakes: The Nine-Hole Lakers played Feb. 22 in a one best ball of the threesome format.The winners: Joan Anderson, Judy Collins, Kathy Goodman, 30 (MOC); Sandy Zimmer, Lillian Schafer, Ellen Smith, 30 (MOC).
Marge Blake, with net 71, won the February Cordial Cup tournament.
The Women’s Golf Association played Feb. 21 in a two best balls of the threesome format. First: Roni Hann, Grae Starwald, Edie Starkey, 132; Marge Blake, Marti Elliott, MaryAnn Gerney, 133.
Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played Feb. 17 in a one gross and one net needed for scoring. The winners: Ken Pomeroy, Charley Frick, Bud Henty, Scott Shaffer, 136.
On Feb. 20, in a two low net balls of the foursome, the winners were Ken Pomeroy, Charley Frick, Bud Henty, Glenn Bernard, 119.
On Feb. 22, in a one gross and one net ball needed for scoring in each foursome, the winners were Ken Pomeroy, Charley Frick, Bud Henty, Glenn Bernard, 139.
Pinehurst: The Women’s Golf Association played Feb. 23, on Course No. 1, in a “a horse is a horse” tournament. The format was one best ball on holes where you could see horses (1–4, 15–18), with two best balls on all others. The Silver Foils played Feb. 21 in a presidents vs. vice presidents match play point tournament. The winners: presidents – 148.5 points; vice presidents – 139.5 points.

The Chippers played Feb. 23 in a game of par-4 holes only, with 50 percent of each player’s handicap used for scoring. Sheryl Robinson, 29 (MOC); Francine Smarelli, 29 (MOC); Pat Smith, 32.
Beacon Ridge: On Feb. 21 the 18-Hole Ladies played a two best balls of the foursome contest on odd holes only. Barbara Card, Sandy Sackmann, Lois Owen, Dawn Shapiro, 58; Hilde Krallinger, Mary Snead, Marilyn Dumbleton, 59; Cindy Osborne, Lindy DiBella, Lois Dole, Sandra McDermott, 59.
Midland: The Men’s Golf Association played Feb. 22 in a Nassau tournament using two best balls of the foursome for scoring. Overall: Harvey Koonce, Bill Paris, John Conroy, Blind Draw, 122. Harvey Koonce won low gross with 81.
In a 9-hole skins game, Sam Ott won on No. 12; Mike Lloyd on No. 13; Bob Mellinger on No. 15; Jim Burrill on No. 17; and Bill Crenson on No. 18. Mike Lloyd won low gross with 39.
