Seven Union Pines wrestlers, including three regional champions, advanced to the state 3-A individual championships Saturday.

Union Pines finished second in the team score at the Mideast 3-A Regional held at Morehead High School. The Vikings had 165 points in finishing second to Orange, who claimed first with 237 points.

Philip Mondi at 120 pounds, Michael Brennan at 182 and Josh Huskey at 220 all claimed regional championships.

Joining those three in advancing to the state tourney in Greensboro next weekend are Vikings Sam Bartram (second at 113 pounds), Jaiden Lindsey (second at 126), Ryan Hull (third at 132) and Andreas Berryman (third at 285).
