Patriots Take Regional Wrestling Title

Pinecrest had four champions on its way to winning the Mideast 4-A Regional individual wrestling team title Saturday at Pinecrest High School.

The Patriots collected 176 team points to outdistance second-place finisher Jack Britt that had 155.5 points.

Regional champions for Pinecrest were Irvin Enriquez at 106 pounds, Garrett Bateman at 138, Dustin Roemer at 152 and Luke Fetla at 220.

Joining those four in heading to the state 4-A individual championship in Greensboro next weekend are Zac Lupien (third at 113 pounds), Dallas Roemer (third at 132) and Rider Excell (second at 160).

The top-four finishers in each weight class advanced to the state tourney.
