Carthage Man Faces Numerous Charges

A Carthage man faces charges in connection with a break-in and two other incidents, according to a release the Moore County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's investigators on Feb. 16 arrested Steven Lawrence Gillespie, 32, of the 100 block of Reardon Lane, and charged him with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, uttering forged instrument, felony attempted larceny, injury to real property, misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor possession of stolen property.

He was given a $10,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear on Feb 16 in Moore County District Court, according to the release.

the arrest stems from investigation into three separate incidents that happened over five months.

The first incident was reported on Sept. 12. 2011 Betty Barber reported that she had found some checks missing from her residence in Carthage and that some of them have been cashed.

On Dec. 30, 2011 Robert Johnson reported that someone had damaged fencing and gates at his farm in Carthage.

The final reported incident happened on Jan. 25, 2012. Michael Wall reproted a six row seeder had been stolen from his property in Carthage.
