Monday was a good day for the O’Neal varsity swimmers in the Cape Fear Independent Conference Championships held at O’Neal.

The Falcon boys’ team dominated the action, winning the conference title by 44 points over runner-up Village Christian. O’Neal’s Eugene Zhang was named the conference male swimmer of the year.

O’Neal swept the relays, with Kevin Duffy, Patrick Wurzel, Eugene Zhang and Carlos Field combing to take wins in the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jarred Jenkinson, Landon Teschendorf, Nick Manning and Kyle McClelland captured first also.

Zhang took first place in the 100-yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke, while Duffy took first place in the 500-yard freestyle and added a second in the 200-yard freestyle.
