Union Pines dropped a 35-34 decision to South Brunswick in the second round of the state 3-A dual team playoffs tonight.

South Brunswick took a 35-22 lead with only two matches remaining. Brunswick forfeited the final two bouts to bring in the final count.

The Vikes started the evening on their home mats by taking a 44-33 win over Eastern Alamance. Meanwhile, South Brunswick won its first-round match, setting up the second-round dual with the homestanding Vikes.

Now Union Pines will turn its sights on individual competition, starting with regional competition the weekend of Feb. 17-18.
