In 2012, the Sandhills Quilters Guild will be celebrating its 30th birthday with several events, include the Quilting in the Pines quilt show at the Fair Barn Sept. 28-29.
"For those of us who have very old quilts or quilts that are just special to us, Jane Hall will be on hand to do appraisals," says a spokesman. "Appointments are recommended for this. More information will be available in the future. So, be sure to keep these days free so that you can attend the show."
Judy Forster is the new president of the guild, and Judy Henshaw is the new first vice president. They were installed at the November guild meeting. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at the First Baptist Church in Southern Pines at 9:30 a.m.
"If you are a quilter or want to become a quilter, please come to our meetings," says the spokesman. "We do have a short meeting at the beginning, but then the fun begins. During the year we have hands-on programs, speakers, workshops and just a good time. It is always a treat to see the quilting projects the members bring in to show the rest of the guild."
The group's quilts are on display in the physical therapy area at Pinehurst Surgical Clinic.
"We have just hung a new collection of quilts, so be sure to stop in and see them, even if you don't have an appointment there," says the spokesman.
The next meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 9:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Southern Pines.
