Notebook: Moston Gets Ace at Hyland

Hole-in-One: Gary Moston of Pinehurst recorded a hole-in-one Jan. 26 at Hyland Golf Club. He aced the par-3 sixth hole using a 9-iron. His shot was witnessed by playing partners Jerry Dare and Richard Venditti.

Pinehurst: The Men’s Golf Association played Jan. 24 in a two best ball modified Stableford Nassau tournament. Competition was on Course No. 6.

Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played Jan. 27 in a two best net balls of the foursome. Steve Luckhaus, Bob Carlson, Tony Rodriquez, Tom Lyon, 122.

The Men’s Golf Association played Feb. 1 in a captain’s choice contest with Al Gaeta, Tony Rodriquez and Bob Carlson won with 72.

Midland: The Ladies Golf Association played Jan. 12 in a low net game.The winners were Penny Higgins, 33; Georgia Snow, 34; Bev Braunscheidel, 38.

The Ladies Golf Association played a low net game Jan. 26 with the following winners: Sally Kelly tied at 32, with JoAnn Hoff. Doris Stone had 34.

The Men’s Golf Association played Feb. 1 in a Nassau tournament. Scoring was two best balls of the foursome.

The overall winners were Dick Baird, John Conroy, Joe Alden and Paul Aschemetat with 130. Jim Braunscheidel won low gross with 85.

In a 9-hole skins game, Phil Colwell won on No. 3 and Derrick North on No. 4. Don Palmer won low gross with 43 and Derrick North won low net with 32.

Whispering Pines: The Men’s Golf Association played Jan. 25 on the East Course in a game of two best balls of the foursome. The winners: Jim Phillingane, Bob Flesca, Win Loughlin and Larry Pierce, 119; Jerry Lloyd, Dick Mills, Roger Amoroso and Michael Tile, 120.

The Men’s Golf Association played Feb. 1 in a two best ball format on the West Course. Longleaf: The Longleaf Ladies opened their 2012 season with a breakfast and general meeting Jan. 26. The game of the day was only holes starting with T’s and F’s were used for scoring.

Feb. 2 the Longleaf Ladies played a Stableford tournament with the following winners: Diane Steele, 38 points; Alane Lennon, 36; Darlene Luppino, 36; Christine Carter, 35.

Seven Lakes: Ellen Smith and Marge Randolph won the Nine Hole Lakers monthly Cordial Cup/low putts tournament Feb. 1. Ellen Smith had the best net with 32 and Marge Randolph won low putts with 15.

Other winners: Flight 1 – Diane Boston, 35; Roni Hamm, 36; Carol Dunn, 37. Flight 2 – Lois Rocco, 33 (MOC); Marge Randolph, 33 (MOC).
