A jewelry open house will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Artist Gallery, of Southern Pines.
Three jewelry makers will be present to display their latest creations, each using different materials and very different styles.
Deb Guess is a jewelry and mixed media artist and instructor. With a passion for creativity and play, Guess enjoys finding unique ways of combining color, texture, inspiration and meaning into jewelry and art. Guess travels around the country teaching metalsmithing and book arts classes in local shops and galleries, as well as in her Soul Whispers Arts home studio. Her work is sold in nearly a dozen gallery and retail shops throughout the southeast.
Rita Dixon-Kent has given Native-American beading a contemporary flare. Colorful, stylish and lightweight, these bracelets, necklaces and earrings are a must-see. She is also a quilter and brings intricate quilting patterns to life in beads.
Jean Skipper uses copper to make funky and fun jewelry. Many of her pieces have surprises, inspirational messages and are all one-of-a-kind. Bracelets, earrings and necklaces all show Skipper's whimsical nature.
Debbie Keen will not be at the show, but her beautiful glass bead bracelets and earrings will be there. Many hours of intricate work is needed to produce these delightful glass beads. Keen chooses bright colors and uses sterling silver to accent her beads.
"Please stop by for some refreshments and talk with our jewelry artists," says a spokesman.
The gallery is located at 167 E New Hampshire Ave. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
