"Christmas Carnival" was this year's theme of the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department's annual Christmas card contest. Three local schools, Pinehurst Elementary, West Pine Elementary and West Pine Middle, participated in the contest this year, with some fantastic entries.

The overall winner out of 298 entries was Carly Veit, an eighth- grader from West Pine Middle School.

Thanks to all the kids who participated this year, and to the art teachers for their tremendous help, Ms. Pier, Ms. Obrien and Ms. Padgett.

Here are the winners for each grade:

Third Grade: Grace Szurgot, Pinehurst Elementary

Fourth Grade: Kayla Jenkins, West Pine Elementary

Fifth Grade: Anna Judge, Pinehurst Elementary

Eighth Grade: Taryn Speer, West Pine Middle.
