Would more gun control have stopped what appears to be a mentally disturbed young man from murdering his mother and 26 children and adults?
Was Cain mentally ill when he used a rock to kill his brother Abel?
How about the man who just terrorized 22 people in Chinese schools with a knife? The Muslim terrorists in Chechnya who held over 100 tiny lives in their power with bombs and suicidal dreams of honoring Allah?
Does anyone believe another law will protect the innocent? Hate is a demonic force that lies within the human heart. It drives one to the irrational use of any object to kill. Wrath comes from one’s willful desires being blocked by another who thwarts those desires. No politician on Earth can cure that.
Insanity may exist here, but what passes for “mental health” is also suspect. Suicide was rare in America until a humanistic/progressive education introduced “Death Education,” taught at Columbine. Suicide is now considered an honorable way out of one’s problems. That is the polar opposite to the Judeo/ Christian faith that cherishes all life as God-given, sacred.
How do we make sense of the senseless? The violence against innocents rips our hearts during this normally joyful holy season of Christmas.
I learned in a period of grief one Christmas that that is why God sent his son: to bring love, hope and comfort to the sick, dying and lost, to offer forgiveness and, yes, sanity in an insane world. Why would anyone refuse such a gift?
May we return to the only one who saves, Christ Jesus.

Answer to the question posed in the opening paragraph: YES! There is no sane reason for anyone not in a "militia", ie: military, military reserves, national guard or law enforcement to possess/own an assault rifle close and/or high capacity magazines for same.
Courseaire 4 months, 3 weeks ago
The 2nd amendment allows citizens to be armed in order to create a "militia" should the need arise to protect themselves against the government should it go wrong - "of which is heading that way now"

This opinion seems to ramble. So lets break it down. Suicide is now considered an honorable way out of one’s problems.
It is to the Japanese who even encourage suicide in certain situations. And if the end result of a massacre is the gunman taking their own life, well lets skip to the end rather than having more bodies in between.
That is the polar opposite to the Judeo/ Christian faith that cherishes all life as God-given, sacred.
If they are armed with the intent of taking lives, well finding life sacred sailed a long time ago.
...to offer forgiveness and, yes, sanity in an insane world. Why would anyone refuse such a gift?
I don't know, lets ask a crazy person why they refused sanity that should be a productive conversation.

"Hate is a demonic force that lies within the human heart." Really? Are you sure it's not a little bit more in the BRAIN AREA? If you have the time Bonnie, read the Editorial Opinon of Paul Steinberg in yesterday's NYT (12/26/12). He's a psyhiatrist in private practice who stated: "The most common source of of severe psychosis in young adults is schizophrenia....schizophrenia is a physiological disorder caused by changes in the prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain that is essential for language, abstract thinking, and appropriate social behavior. This highly evolved brain are is weakened by stress, as often occurs in adolescence." This very "American" problem of mentally ill individuals and their guns won't be solved by praying or by by turning one's life over to Jesus. Sorry Bonnie. We need better Mental Health Care in this country. Not less.

MC7-this is a legit question: Do you believe that evil exists?
Courseaire 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Yes - Evil exists and they are called Republicans (especially the Teapotty types), greedy CEOs and 1%ers.

In God’s Word one can read: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:9 Matthew Henry wrote “The heart, the conscience of man, in his corrupt and fallen state, is deceitful above all things. It calls evil good, and good evil; and cries peace to those to whom it does not belong. Herein the heart is desperately wicked; it is deadly, it is desperate.” Though one does not know what lies in the heart of others, Jesus does.

It appears that Bill Clinton, in response to the Columbine killings, sought to extend the Community Oriented Policing Service Program ("COPS") to all schools, where armed police would interact with students and even help teach sports. http://times247.com/articles/bill-clinton-once-backed-armed-guards-in-schools. Here's Clinton in his own words announcing the initiative: http://www.westernjournalism.com/flashback-pres-clinton-asks-for-60-million-for-cops-in-schools/. Many Republicans were opposed to the proposal then, not because they opposed armed cops in school, but because of fears of an over-reaching federal government, and because armed police at schools should be a decision left to local school districts. Today, even the huffingtonpost, a liberal publication, admits that the recent proposal by the NRA's Wayne LaPierre is the same championed by Bill Clinton after Columbine. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dennis-santiago/wayne-lapierre-bill-clint_b_2352256.html. Yet liberals now claim that LaPierre's idea is madness, but Clinton remains their hero. Interesting stuff. Cheers!

How many evils could there possibly be teufelhunden? Moral evils? Physical evils? Emotional evils? Yes, I believe in evil and that it exists. But I probably have a different way of looking at the "concept". What do you believe? Do you think that "Evil" floats around in the air above us and just ZAPS certain people at anytime of day or night? Does the "Devil" make people do "bad" things or could it just possibly be a "malfunctioning" mental state of mind? Malfunctions possibly due to Abusive Priests? Neglectful families? Genetics? Drugs or Alcohol? Loneliness? Our minds are not separate entities form our bodies teufelhunden.

A person can be evil without all the outside influences described by Moonchild7 above. The problem is sin, and that was the point of the letter written by Mrs. Dougherty. To overcome sin there was a need for a Savior, and that Savior is Jesus.
moonchild7 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Then tell me LSM, What causes a person to be sinful? Other than "just being born with it" as so many evangelical religions seem to believe.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23 KJV Sin came into the World through the fall of Adam. “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.” Romans 5:12 NIV But mankind has the hope of salvation through Jesus. “Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” Romans 5: 18-19 NIV It takes faith to believe. Thank You Jesus.

Ask Jesus. He's willing and able to help the mentally sick (Luke 8: 27-36.) I know. He healed me when He saved me. Praise Him!

For the VERY GOOD and NICE NON-BELIEVERS in this world who just aren't into Jesus .....what do you say to them LSM? You're still sinful? Are you arrogant enough to even want to say that to anyone? There's been many a crime committed in "The name of Jesus", LSM. What do call those people?
